XFL Power Rankings Week 4

XFL Power Rankings Week 4 Edition: Huge shakeup in the rankings this week

by Logan Borkey

1. Houston Roughnecks (4-0) | Next Week: vs Seattle

Another week, another win for the Roughnecks. PJ Walker was great as always. His trusty receiver
Cam Phillips only had one catch but it didn’t matter because running back Nick Holley had 97 yards
and a touchdown. The only weakness with Houston so far is their defense. They've been squeaking by
teams and if Walker has an off day the Roughnecks could be in trouble.

Last Week: 1

2. St. Louis Battlehawks (3-1) | Next Week: @ DC

The Battlehawks are quietly playing great football. Jordan Ta’amu is efficient and can keep the offense running when Christine Michael and Matt Jones can't get going. St. Louis is the only team right now that I see that can compete with the Roughnecks.

Last Week: 2

3. Los Angeles Wildcats (1-3) | Next Week: vs Tampa Bay

Even though the Wildcats lost, I still think this team is better than their record suggests. Since his return Josh Johnson has been playing well and Trey McBride is a great receiver who torched the Guardians secondary on Saturday with 127 yards and a touchdown.

Last Week: 5

4. Tampa Bay Vipers (1-3) | Next Week: @ Los Angeles

Yes, the Vipers are at number four even though they only have one win. Tampa Bay thoroughly dominated the Defenders on Sunday. Marc Trestman gave over offensive play calling to Jaime Elizondo and the offense looked completely different. Running backs De'veon Smith and Jacques Patrick both had stellar games (122 yards & 108 yards, 1 touchdown respectively) and Taylor Cornelius played well. He isn’t on PJ Walker level but he did enough to get Tampa Bay their first win of the season.

Last Week: 7

5. DC Defenders (2-2) | Next Week: vs St. Louis

The Defenders looked terrible on Sunday when they got shut out by the Vipers. DC has looked like a completely different team the past two weeks and Cardale Jones has struggled. The strongest part of the Defenders was their defense and they have struggled as well. Maybe returning back to Audi Field will help DC find their rhythm again and turn the season around.

Last Week: 3

6. Dallas Renegades (2-2) | Next Week: vs New York

Unlikely day for Dallas. After starting to find their rhythm the past two weeks, they lost to the Roughnecks on Sunday in the Texas Showdown. The Renegades managed to only lose by one score in a game where they had four turnovers. Landry Jones got injured and might be out for a while and will be replaced by Philip Nelson. Dallas’s defense should keep them in games but with Nelson at quarterback their offense will be severely limited.

Last Week: 4

7. Seattle Dragons (1-3) | Next Week: @ Houston

Seattle finally made a change at quarterback. Brandon Silvers was benched at halftime for BJ Daniels. Daniels had a decent gameespecially on the ground with 84 yardsbut the Dragons still need to nail down the quarterback position.

Last Week: 6

8. New York Guardians (2-2) | Next Week: @ Dallas

The Guardians must have my article last week because they started Luis Perez last weekend. Perez had a solid game (150 yards, 1 touchdown) and led New York to their first win since Week 1. The defense stepped up big time to help get the win but this team isn't strong enough offensively to contend for the playoffs.
